“Illusion’s
World” Photo Exhibition
November 25th
On November 25th Russian Cultural Centre will host “Illusion’s
World” Photo Exhibition by a young photo artist from Moscow
Anastasia Avloshenko. Anastasia works in a complicated and
rather rare genre – “observation”. She explores relations
between people, researches on the problem of solitude in a
modern world. In her works there’s no interference into
somebody’s private life, characters of her art pieces kind of
share their emotions and feelings. Anastasia works in the so
called mix-media style, organically combining photo and video,
black and white and color, digital and analogue materials.
Each of her works is a small story of human feelings and
emotions and her series are like a novel with its prologue and
epilogue.
By invitation only!

Dedicated to the 175th Anniversary of the famous Russian
Writer N.S. Leskov Book Exhibit
Nikolai Semyonovich Leskov (February 16, 1831-March 5,
1895) was a Russian journalist, novelist and short story
writer. Among Russians considered "the most Russian of all
Russian writers" N.S. Leskov’s main works include Lady Macbeth
of Mtsensk (1865), which was later made into an opera, The
Tale of Cross-eyed Lefty from Tula and the Steel Flea (1881)
and the novel Cathedral Folk (1872). As a journalist and a
writer he got early a reputation as an anti-nihilist during
the sixties. He was not a conservative either, and this
refusal to take side led to economical problems, since few
journals wanted to publish his works. During the last years of
his life he became a disciple of Lev Tolstoy. He died in 1895
and is buried at the Volkovo Cemetery in Saint Petersburg.
